Character Name: Roxas
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Canon Point: Before Roxas fights against Riku in 358/2 Days
Background/History: here you go!

Personality:

Nobodies are one of the most difficult things to understand in the Kingdom Hearts world. The easy definition of a Nobody is that it's a thing made of body and soul. They are the creation of a real person who has lost their heart to the Darkness. What makes them unique is the fact that unlike Heartless, they are able to see and function. The higher versions of Nobodies, like Roxas, are able to talk and walk like normal humans can. The only problem with Nobodies is that they can't feel any kind of emotion. Or at least that's what we were told at first.

In 358/2 Days, it's revealed that Nobodies pretend they can feel from the memories of their human selves. It's one of the things that can make them feel semi-normal; you don't have to tell someone the memory you're pulling the feeling from, because the fact that you're actually getting an idea of that feeling is more than enough to brag about.

Roxas is interesting to begin with this bit of information, given the fact that he had no memories when he was first created. When he was discovered by the Organization, he was described as 'zombie-like'; he struggled to make his own sentences and often forgot things the moment someone explained it to him. One of the thing he knew then was that he needed answers, and joining Organization XIII was the only way for him to get it.

He's a special Nobody, though. His full self was a boy named Sora. To make things even more interesting, another keyblade wielder had put some of his heart into Sora, which then went into Roxas. So instead of feeling 'false' emotions from memories, Roxas can feel the full thing. In 358/2 Days, it's been noted by other Nobodies that he treats others like friends and comrades, while others just see each other as things they have to deal with until their own hearts can be created.

Roxas is a lot like Sora, but at the same time, he's not.

He has a desire to be normal; by the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II, Roxas would do anything to throw the keyblade away and live a simple life like his friends. Unlike Sora, he didn't have a real motivation to be the hero. His friends were all in Twilight Town with him, and there really wasn't any ambition to see the world outside of his home. When you were happy with what you were and the group you were with, why bother?

Roxas can be a little like Sora in regards to letting people get under their skin. When something odd pops up, he doesn't want to sit back and let it come to him. Roxas would much rather try and dig down into what's going on, even if it means breaking a few of the rules. It's shown in 358 Days when Xion falls into a coma, and everyone seems to know why but him.

When it comes to others creeping around him and trying to get him to realize one thing when he feels it's best to know both sides, he can get very angry in hardly any time. The one main difference from him and Sora is that Roxas isn't quick to jump the gun, but at the same time he's very easy to anger. He does his best to stand his ground, and is stubborn enough to not make others push him around unless it's absolutely forced.

There's a lot of pent-up anger that Roxas holds. He keeps it in until the breaking point, which can get pretty violent. Roxas has been known to destroy whole computers when he's at his worst, and tries to destroy holograms when it's shown at first to be completely vain. When he gets into fights, he can be very arrogant, and isn't afraid to brag. His words can have a heavy bite to them, yet he doesn't hold restraints. He's the darker side of Sora, being more dark and angry while Sora himself is more lighthearted and goofy.

He's also known to be selfish, but not so much as the series goes on. By the end of his summer, Roxas willingly lets himself combine with Sora, even though it ultimately means that he will cease to exist.

Even though he's shown in a more violent light sometimes, Roxas can feel just as happy as his other friends, Nobody or not. It's been shown many times where he enjoys spending time with them. He will joke and carry on, and it's been shown that Roxas can laugh just like others. He cares a lot for his friends just like Sora does. If they are hurt or missing or in danger, he will throw himself into the middle of it and protect his friends as hard as he can. He grows just as angry when they are disrespected or put down. If his friends are onto something that he doesn't know, he can feel disappointed or sad.

So despite his being a Nobody, Roxas can feel lots of things: anger and hatred, sadness and contentment. He can laugh or cry or be so angry that he screams at the top of his lungs.

Further into the Kingdom Hearts series, it's actually been proven that Nobodies can have hearts, but it takes them time and experience for it to grow. That can easily explain how Roxas has a long range of emotions, for something that doesn't have a heart.

Abilities/Powers:

Looks can be deceiving. Roxas is very powerful, despite his young age.

Roxas has the ability to use the keyblade, a weapon that balances Light and Darkness. It's because of his other self that he's able to use this. If he wasn't a part of Sora, then he wouldn't have this ability. At the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II when we were first introduced to him, he used the basic form of it. This was the same for 358/2 Days. It seems at first he's this scrawny little kid who hits things around with a giant key. But there's a lot more to Roxas than this.

He has a special ability as a Nobody; he can control Light. With Roxas, light can take many different forms. He can use it in the form of light beams that can shoot in all directions and his his opponent hard. Or he can form it into energy balls, which he can use to blast his opponent away. Roxas can glide against the floor, and when he moves, specks of light can be shown following his path.

That's just one thing that makes him dangerous.

As the story in 358/2 Days go by, Roxas actually has the ability to duel-wield. He has two keyblades that he uses: Oblivion and Oathkeeper. Both represent light and darkness, or the both of Sora's friends. So far in Kingdom Hearts, Roxas is the only one who's able to use both without some special form. Even without his keyblades, he's completely able to summon and move light how he wants to.

With these two blades, Roxas can be a real pain in the fanny. His combat style is rather severe, and direct. Roxas will charge into his opponent as hard as he can, until he can't anymore.

He has great stamina as well. Roxas can take some pretty hard hits, and has been shown to come back to consciousness moments, or minutes after he's been knocked out. He can pull himself up easily with one arm, and can run for a period of time without losing his breath. Roxas can also jump fairly high, and can drop from heights without any problems.

Sample Entry:

[ When the feed starts, a boy is there to greet you. He may be familiar, or maybe not.

It's kind of interesting; he's never used one of these before. The Organization had computers and such things, of course. But little mobile phones? Roxas couldn't say he was all too familiar about that. But he's pretty much going to ignore this right now, because he's not exactly in the best of moods. ]

Which world is this? [ It's certainly something he hasn't seen before. It was cool to see new ones and all, but now was no the time. Especially when he couldn't make a portal anymore. ] I don't have time for this. I need to leave.

[ The Organization would be looking all over the place, probably in the worlds they never saw before either. Axel's warnings were burning through his head. ]

...If anyone has a vessel, I'd like a ride to Twilight Town.

[ You can see that as a request...or not. ]

Sample Entry Two:

Roxas felt funny. Not in a good way, though.

There was something about being here alone, with no Axel or Xion to give him some good company. It was something he'd have to get used to, of course...seeing that Xion was gone now, and him running away from the Organization meant that he wouldn't be seeing Axel around, either. Those few facts stunk; he had spent 357 days with the Organization, with his friends, and now those opportunities were gone.

Sad thing was, Roxas didn't regret his decision. There were questions he wanted answers to, and the Organization wasn't giving him any help. Things had been going in a downward slide as the days passed, and he couldn't stick around it any longer. It made him feel like there was a fire burning in his belly, and it made his hands shake.

He couldn't tell anyone about this, though. Either they would say he was being stupid, feeling "emotions" that were completely foreign to Nobodies, or someone would say that it was none of his business. Roxas was the Organization's key (literally) to giving them all hearts, but they treated him like dirt. And Xion, too...

Despite all the angry feelings he had, Roxas had this other thing- sadness. It felt like something heavy was sitting on his chest, and it hurt. He was sleepy and there was this nagging in his brain that made him repeat the same things over and over, which didn't really help. 'What am I going to do? Axel isn't here. What am I going to do? Axel isn't here...'

Roxas just wanted to go back to his apartment and sleep. What else could he do? There were no Nobodies, no Heartless. Things were just...weird. People kept telling him that Haven was completely different from his own world; this was a special one, who chose people to live within it. You couldn't get into it with a vessel, or dark portals.

That meant you couldn't leave, either.

There were questions burning in his mind that Roxas was desperate to know. It was kind of annoying, being brought here when you were close to your answers, but something dragged you away from it. He just wanted to know, and he missed Xion being around, and holy crap did he miss Axel.

This wasn't fair. Nothing seemed to be here.

Roxas sighed, and looked around the town. Maybe he could find some ice cream around here...
